Free tool · Evidence before action

Is this a real commercial opportunity—or just a signal?

Before investing time, sending an outreach message, or promising revenue, verify what is actually known. This free interactive checklist helps service-business owners review opportunity evidence without claiming that a lead is qualified.

No login, payment, contact form or data transmission. Responses stay in your browser for this session. This is a learning tool—not canonical ARI Qualification, Revenue Judgement, legal advice, or authority to contact anyone.

What makes an opportunity credible?

A permit, job posting, new facility, storm event, formation filing, or vendor announcement may be a useful market observation. None alone establishes buyer intent, a budget, a responsible contact, available contractor capacity, or permission to send outreach.

ARI's governed business-growth approach separates source observations from evidence-backed qualification, current revenue judgement, customer fit and authorized action. This checklist translates that distinction into practical questions any business owner can apply.

10 questions worth answering before pursuing an opportunity

1. Is the source attributable?

Can you locate the original public notice, customer request, or first-party document—not just a reposted claim?

2. Is it current?

Is the publication/effective date relevant, and have later events changed or ended the opportunity?

3. Does the location fit?

Is the actual jurisdiction and territory within your verified operating area and licensing rules?

4. Does the service fit?

Do you actually supply the type of work being discussed, including required expertise, licenses and insurance?

5. Is buyer demand real?

Is there verified procurement, a direct request, or other specific evidence of a current need—not just a plausible reason to buy?

6. Are buyer roles known?

Can you distinguish the decision maker, purchasing contact, project owner and other relevant stakeholders without guessing?

7. Do the economics fit?

Is contract scale, travel, staffing, margin and payment timing sufficiently understood for a responsible pursuit?

8. Can you deliver?

Is there actual service capacity, the right skills and available resources? A free calendar slot is not operational capacity.

9. Is contact permitted?

If outreach is considered, is the recipient appropriate, the route verified, and consent/opt-out/compliance respected?

10. Is the next action authorized?

Has the responsible person approved the specific next step? Research, requesting a meeting, booking, and sending are different actions.

Your evidence review

No responses yet.

Mark what is actually known. Missing evidence stays unknown.

This screen does not decide that a prospect is a lead, a contract is available, or an action may be taken. It helps identify questions worth verifying next.

What to do next

  • Find the original source and its date.
  • Identify where an assumption replaced evidence.
  • Verify customer fit, operational constraints and privacy obligations.
  • Only then determine a permissioned next action.
  • Measure actual responses and revenue separately from predicted value.
